The Guest House is well located to be a base from which to explore the various attractions of the Valley of a 1000 Hills area - the spectacular views, PheZulu Cultural Park with daily displays of Zulu dancing, a crocodile farm, Shongweni Dam and Nature Reserve, and many curio shops, pubs, and restaurants. Further inland is Pietermaritzburg, about 30 minutes, and the Midlands Meander with a myriad of stops featuring crafts and homemade products.

Calmswood offers 4 individually decorated double rooms, all en-suite. Each room has a ceiling fan, heater, TV, radio alarm clock, tea/coffee tray, and shaver unit in the bathroom. A full breakfast is served.

There is lovely large swimming pool in the garden, with a small pub opening out onto the pool area. Secure onsite parking, with individual access control, is provided.
