This laptop features Intel’s latest Core i5-430M processor. The Core i5 features dual cores capable of four processing threads. It is a 64-bit processor that comes with 3 MB of L3 cache, runs at 2.26 GHz (up to 2.533 GHz with Intel TurboBoost) and built on a 32 nm die. That means lower power, and less heat, which is ideal for a laptop. It has 4 GB of DDR3 RAM (1066MHz) and can be expanded to 8 GB. Perfect for multitasking.

The display is a 15.6″ LED backlit LCD display with a resolution of 1366 x 768. The 16:9 aspect ratio and native 720p support makes it excellent for watching widescreen DVDs. The screen is driven by the NVIDIA GeForce 310M with 512 MB of dedicated DDR3 video memory (up to 2267 MB with shared memory). The GPU comes with NVIDIA PureVideo HD technology–helping extend battery life, reducing fan noise, and freeing the CPU for multitasking.

The laptop comes with a 500 GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive rotating at 5400 RPM. This is a large hard drive and should store most everything you want, but it would’ve been nice to have a 7200 RPM drive. The optical drive is a Blu-ray Disc-enabled DVD±RW/CD-RW drive which will help you take advantage of the 720p screen. Blu-Ray is a good benefit if you’re into those discs.

For networking this notebook comes with 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet on the RJ-45 port for wired connectivity. Hook that up to your gigabit router at home and you’ll be lightning fast. You also get Wi-Fi® Wireless networking (802.11b/g/n) for support of the latest wireless networking standard.

The multicard reader is a 3 in 1 slot that supports SD, SDHC, MMC cards. No support for Sony MemorySticks, but hopefully you haven’t gone down that path. Other ports include a VGA port for an analog monitor, an HDMI port to output your Blu-Ray movies to your HDTV, 4 USB 2.0 ( 1 Chargable USB ), headphone and microphone jacks. Like all other laptops this one comes with a built-in webcam and internal microphone for Skype video chat.

The notebook comes installed with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Other software includes Adobe Reader. 60-day trial version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 also included.

For power it comes with a 6-cell Lithium ion battery (4400 mAh), and a 90 W AC adapter. The laptop measures 14.9″ x 10″ x 1.2″ and weighs 5.7 pounds
