Technical Services Manager (Base Metal Mining experience)

Our client is a leading Cu/Co producer in the mining sector in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and currently has a contract single status vacancy for a Technical Services Manager on one of its mines.

PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, we are unable to consider candidates who do not have prior mining industry experience (This is a crucial requirement and NOT negotiable).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:
• Supervising, coordinating and scheduling activities of all the technical services divisions with the Head of the departments of each of the following divisions:
1. Production
2. Geotechnical
3. Mine Planning
4. Geology
5. Survey
6. SHEQ
• This includes scheduling, blast and pit design, geology, surveying, production studies, managing contractors, mentoring junior engineers and geotechnical studies.
• Key deliverables are making production targets and ensuring a safe work environment.

REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
• Mining Engineering degree from a recognized university
• 15 years experience in a mining production environment, preferably base metals, at least 5 of which was in a management role
• Knowledge of the GEMCOM suite of packages
• Ability to work with multinationals and strong management skills

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:
• Market related Nett package per calendar month
• Other items such as laptop/desktop, cell phone, internet access required to carry out your job will be provided
• Notice period is two weeks in the first three months after which it becomes two months notice.

• Yearly travel allowance will be $10 000 plus five flights from Kolwezi to JHB
• Accommodation will be in the single quarters with three meals a day.
• Leave will be 60 days per calendar year.
